Key Selection Parameters
Material – SS304 for water, oil, mild chemicals. SS316L (with molybdenum) for seawater, chlorides, dilute acids.
Stem design – Prefer non‑rotating stem to prevent galling and extend seal life. Cheap rotating stems wear quickly.
Packing – PTFE (≤200°C), flexible graphite (≤450°C), or PEEK for high‑pressure cycling.
Pressure‑temperature curve – Rated pressure is at room temperature. At 200°C, allowable pressure may drop by half. Always check the curve.
Flow coefficient (Cv) – DN6 ~0.2, DN10 ~0.5, DN15 ~1.0. For higher Cv, use a globe valve.
Installation & Maintenance
